JIBWIS ADVICE BUHARI ,ATIKU TO ACCEPT ELECTION RESULT

JIBWIS advice Buhari, Atiku to accept election results
National trust news | Feb 26, 2019

- JIBWIS has urged President Buhari, Atiku Abubakar and other politicians to accept the outcome of the elections in the interest of peace and unity

- The coordinator of JIBWIS election observers, Yusuf Yakubu Arrigasiyyu, says the presidential and National Assembly elections were conducted peacefully in most states, including Abuja

- Arrigasiyyu however, complains that some states including in Abia, Delta, Rivers, Kogi, Anambra and Lagos recorded electoral violence

The presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari and his challenger from the People Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, have both been urged by election observers of the Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), to accept the outcome of the elections in good faith.

The coordinator of the observers, Yusuf Yakubu Arrigasiyyu, made the plea on Monday, February 25, in Kaduna when reading out the interim report on the elections to journalists, NationalTrust reports.

Arrigasiyyu, who urged other candidates to also accept the outcome of the elections in the interest of peace and unity, said the presidential and National Assembly elections were conducted peacefully in most states, including Abuja.

He however complained that some states including in Abia, Delta, Rivers, Kogi, Anambra and Lagos states recorded electoral violence.

“Our appeal on behalf of our leader, Shaikh Bala Lau is to advise all the presidential candidates from the major parties and others to accept the outcome of the result in good faith," Arrigasiyyu said.

“Whoever loses should extend the hand of friendship to the other in the interest of brotherhood and peace. There is always another time for the candidate that loses in future.”

Meanwhile, the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has rejected what it called the purported victory of President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the general elections, claiming the results in parts of the country do not reflect the true aspirations of Nigerians.

The group in a statement on Monday evening, February 25, faulted the 2019 general elections as a complete departure from the electoral gains made in 2015, The Punch reports.

Imo Ugochinyere, the spokesman for the coalition, accused the INEC chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, of collaborating with the current administration to rob the Nigerian people of their will while lying to the international community.

BUHARI'S VOTE OF THANKS TO ALL NIGERIAN

Buhari's vote of thanks to all Nigerians

2019 Elections

Following

My Dear Nigerians,

First and foremost, I give thanks to Almighty God Who has spared our lives to witness another victory for Nigerian democracy and victory for our party APC.

I thank the millions of Nigerians who voted to re-elect me as your president for the next four years. I am deeply humbled and profoundly grateful to you for judging me worthy of continuing to serve you and for your peaceful conduct.

In particular, I would like to thank Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for his masterful leadership as Co-chair of the Campaign Council. I would like to also thank the Party Chairman Adams Oshiomhole, the Director General of the Campaign Council Rotimi Amaechi, all members of the Presidential Campaign Council and other various Support Groups.

My grateful thanks to all those who contributed to the logistical expenses of the campaign in such a vast country like Nigeria.

I also thank the millions of volunteers, self-appointed overseers, canvassers, agents, escorts and sentries who sacrificed so much of their time and resources to ensure the success of these elections. I do not have the words adequate to thank them.

Although Saturday’s elections were relatively peaceful, troublemakers in a handful of states attempted to disrupt an otherwise orderly process. Security agencies will bring to justice all those arrested in the process.

I am very sad at the grievous loss of lives during these elections. Security agencies will step up their efforts to protect voters in the forthcoming State elections.

I would like to commend our security agencies, as severely overstretched as they are, for handling the difficult task of securing the country during the election period.

I will like to make a special appeal to my supporters not to gloat or humiliate the opposition. Victory is enough reward for your efforts.

We give thanks also to our Domestic and International observers for contributing to the success of our elections and for their interest in our country and our developing democracy.

The new Administration will intensify its efforts in Security, Restructuring the Economy and Fighting Corruption. We have laid down the foundation and we are committed to seeing matters to the end. We will strive to strengthen our unity and inclusiveness so that no section or group will feel left behind or left out.

I thank you for your support and may God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria

COGENT REASONS EXIST FOR NDIGBO TO VOTE FOR ATIKU /OBI

Cogent reasons exist for Ndigbo to come out and vote for Atiku/Obi —Obaze

The Chairman, Anambra State Chapter of Atiku-Obi Presidential Campaign Council, Mr. Oseloka H. Obaze, has called on Ndigbo to come out en masse and vote for the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the February 16 polls.

Obaze, the erstwhile candidate of the party in the Anambra 2017 governorship election, made the call in Awka over the weekend. According to him, “cogent reasons exist for Ndigbo to come out en masse and vote for PDP’s Atiku-Obi.”

He said any vote for Atiku Abubakar is also a vote for Peter Obi, who would be saddled with managing the economic responsibilities of the country.

Obaze noted that Igbo, who, according to him, are predominantly business-minded people, and Nigerians in general, stand to benefit maximally from topnotch conceptual and empirical knowledge the Atiku/Obi team offers.

He said Atiku has executive democratic and political experience, just like his running mate, Peter Obi who he described as “a working and resourceful match. With the duo in office, Igbos and Nigerians will rejoice and relish a new political and economic paradigm.”

On the issue of succession, which has become a major campaign talking point, Obaze said over 40 million Igbo people cannot afford to wait for another 4 years to realize the “so called” promise of being handed over to by the APC Government.

“Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Babatunde Fashola, both potential 2023 presidential candidates, have said publicly and without any apologies that President Buhari will hand over to the Southwest in 2023. Their permutation does not feature Ndigbo.”

He encouraged Ndigbo to vote PDP in order to have Peter Obi in Aso Rock, since his being the Vice President will provide emotional and spiritual exhilaration for the Igbo people who feel excluded, neglected and marginalized in Nigeria.

“Beyond deploying his reach and office to chart a new vision and mission for the Igbo and Nigerians, Peter Obi also fits well into the bill of strategic succession planning.”

“Moreover, Atiku is a son-in-law of the Igbo people, by virtue of one of his wives from Onitsha. He is an Igbo son by our customary law of marriage and he has chosen our natural son, Peter Obi as his running mate — this is a double chance, if not obligatory reason for the Igbo people to vote for PDP.”

Obaze acknowledged that “Atiku being human, has his shortcomings, just like any of us or other presidential candidates” but noted that Nigeria will be far better off with Atiku-Obi than what currently obtains.

PDP CALL NIGERIAN TO COME OUT AND EXERCISE THEIR CIVIL RIGHT

Come out and exercise your franchise despite the letdown by INEC - PDP

Nationaltrustnews24hours@gmail. Com

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on Nigerians to come out en masse this Saturday to exercise their franchise despite the letdown caused by INEC's decision to postpone the elections few hours before commencement.

The Chairman of Atiku/Obi campaign council in Anambra State, Mr. Oseloka H. Obaze, made this call in Awka over the weekend.

Obaze regretted the wider economic implications and opportunity cost of the postponement. He maintained that four years was enough time for INEC to prepare for the elections. According to him, the postponement was a systemic failure on the part of INEC.

Obaze who was the candidate of the PDP during the 2017 governorship election in Anambra State said INEC must accept responsibility and apologise for causing so much frustration and international embarrassment to Nigerians.

He enjoined Nigerians, especially those who had traveled long distances to perform their civic duty to make further sacrifices and ensure that their voices are heard through the ballot on the rescheduled dates. He said the pains of four more years of hardship and uncertainty far outweigh the pains of sacrificing a week to get Nigeria working again.

On the issue of what impression Nigeria created before the international community as a result of the sudden postponement of election, the retired United Nations diplomat said the postponement was a total public relations disaster for Nigeria.

According to him, “the situation is embarrassing, especially when it is considered against the background of the assurances given by the Head of State in his national broadcast some days earlier and the assurances INEC continued to give even just few hours before the postponement was officially announced.”

He said, “We give some leeway to INEC and appreciate the enormity of challenges they faced, but what they have done, wittingly or unwittingly, is to shift the goalpost in the middle of the game. It is not acceptable.”

“INEC should revisit their directives that political campaigns should not be reopened. Our party takes a strong exception to that and if need be, we are willing to approach the court to seek interpretation of the Electoral Act.”

Responding to a question on the safety of sensitive materials that have already been deployed, Obaze said “our party in Anambra State will meet with the state Resident Electoral Commissioner to inspect those materials, just the way we inspected them when they arrived, to ensure that their sanctity has not been violated. And that should apply across board.”

DELE MOMODU CONGREGATED ATIKU

Nigeria Decides: Atiku Congratulated By Dele Momodu, Says ‘He Fought Decently’

2019 Elections

Following

Dele Momodu, Publisher of Ovation magazine, has sent a congratulatory message to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, on his performance in Saturday’s election.

Atiku was described as a true democrat in the tweet released on Tuesday which also praised the former Vice President’s fighting spirit.

He also urged Atiku to place Nigeria above everything even though he was cheated.

Momodu said, “My dear Wazirin, accept my congratulations on an election decently fought by you. I’ve no doubt that you’re a true democrat by your composure and comportment. I was one of your volunteers from the distance like I did for BUHARI in 2015.”

“My dear WAZIRIN, I supported you for only one reason, I believe no government should be encouraged to have a second term if its performance in the first term is below average. I was neither a member of APC nor PDP but a firm believer in a virile opposition.

“My dear WAZIRIN, you became my option after you won your ticket on the platform of PDP knowing from personal experience that only the top two party tickets have any chance of winning this Presidential race though I supported other younger candidates, morally and otherwise.

“My dear WAZIRIN, my hope was for a level playing field for all candidates, young or old, but obviously that did not happen, even if no election can ever be perfect. Many Nigerians prayed and fasted and did whatever they could in the expectation that our democracy would deepen.

“My dear WAZIRIN, to cut a long tale short, many lives have been wasted, many citizens have been brutally injured, and the results have virtually been declared, and the direction is all too obvious. And this is where you come in, as tempers rise, left, right and centre.

“My dear WAZIRIN, every normal human being would feel deeply hurt with the level of garrison operations we recently witnessed. But all wounds ultimately heal, if properly treated. I want you to place Nigeria above every other consideration, no matter how much you feel cheated.”

DELTA SOUTH APC REFUSES THE RESULT

Delta South: APC refused result, says there was no election

News 2.0 /chidimma A I HENACHO/ 1 hour ago

Nationaltrustnews24hours@gmail.com

The All Progressives Congress, APC in Delta State, has rejected the result declaring Sen. James Manager as winner of the just-concluded elections in Delta South Senatorial District.

The Delta State APC Chairman, Prophet Jones Erue, spoke on behalf of the party on Tuesday.

He said, “That was a fraud. There was no election in Delta South Senatorial District.

“The only places they had election were Isoko South and Warri South. There was no election in every other place in the district. The ballot boxes for other Local Government Areas were hijacked and thumb printed by thugs.

“I will send you a video to show you. So, declaring Manager as winner is a fraud. There was no election and card readers were not used.

“Soldiers and police in connivance with INEC officials aided the rigging and fraudulent act.

“INEC was fraudulent because they (Security Operatives and INEC) were induced by Manager and PDP in the State from the stolen wealth of the common man in the society.

“Voters were not allowed to exercise their civic rights. The result cannot stand. INEC should stop playing the people.”

AREA BOYS FIGHT IGBO TRADERS, DESTROY SHOPS IN OSHODI MARKET

Area Boys fight  Igbo Traders, Destroy Shops In Oshodi Market.

2019 Elections

Following

There was pandemonium in the Oshodi area of Lagos, on Monday, as shops belonging to Igbo traders were allegedly forced shut by hoodlums said to be sympathetic to the All Progressives Congress.

It was gathered that the hoodlums beat up some of the traders for allegedly voting for  the Peoples Democratic Party during the presidential and National Assembly elections that held on Saturday.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the hoodlums invaded the market around 5am and destroyed some shops before the traders arrived to set up their wares.

It was learnt that the hoodlums returned around 7am to beat up some of the traders, who were assessing the damage done to their shops.

One of the traders, who identified himself simply as Emeka, and whose shop was destroyed, said the hoodlums had no justification to attack the traders and their means of livelihood for exercising their civic right, adding that they were paying taxes to the Lagos State Government.

He stated, “I arrived for the day’s business only to see my shed already destroyed. When I asked those who arrived before me, I was told that some people came armed with weapons to destroy our places of business. I also learnt that they beat up some traders when they came the second time.

“This action on the Igbo is condemnable, because we are the ones developing this state. Some of the shops built by the government are sold to us because we are willing to pay any amount to get shops where business thrives.

“We are calling on the state government to put security measures in place so that such a thing will not repeat itself. As a Nigerian, it is expected that everyone will be free to do business anywhere in the country without being intimidated or harassed by anybody, regardless of who they decide to vote for.”

Another trader, identified simply as Obinna, said he escaped the beating by the hoodlums by chance.

Obinna said, “I was able to escape the hoodlums’ beating by luck, because when I saw some guys coming in a group with planks in their hands, I knew there was a problem and I just took to my heels. When I returned, some of the traders, who didn’t run far from the place, told me of what happened.

“Someone had earlier suggested that I should take some time before resuming business after the elections, but I thought democracy in 2019 should not involve violence. It is really bad that people cannot be allowed to exercise their right to vote in the acclaimed centre of excellence.”

A trader, who refused to give her name, said, “There was a problem with the ‘area boys’ this morning at Oshodi. They blocked our shops for almost an hour before the ‘Operation Python Dance’ operatives came and the hoodlums fled.

“The attack was accentuated by their belief that we the Igbo, who are doing business in Oshodi and environs, voted for the PDP instead of the APC. They even threatened to drive us out of Oshodi and place curses on us.

“So, in the process, information got to the ‘Operation Python Dance’ operatives, who ordered everybody to reopen their shops. That was when people resumed their normal business.

“What we have seen is that the youth acted based on some people’s directives. We don’t know those who sent them to attack us. Does it mean that we don’t have the right to vote for whoever we want?

“Must we vote for the same person they are voting for? It is wrong and this should not be a part of the democratic process. There are so many other things happening here, but we don’t say them out in the interest of peace.”

The Lagos State Police Command dispelled rumours of attacks on Igbo traders by ‘area boys’ in Oshodi.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, CSP Chike Oti, said in a statement, on Monday, that although the command received distress calls about the rumoured attacks, operatives were deployed in various parts of Oshodi and environs, adding that it did not receive information about any attack.

Oti stated, “The attention of the Lagos State Police Command has been drawn to the news making the rounds on the Internet to the effect that a group of boys, popularly called ‘area boys’, were attacking Igbo traders in Oshodi, preventing them from opening their shops.

“The command wishes to debunk the rumour in its entirety as nothing could be further from the truth.

“Although the command received distress calls from concerned Nigerians, whose apprehension was understandably heightened by disturbing rumours emanating from some social media platforms, the command swiftly and massively deployed its personnel drawn from various units in Oshodi and environs to assuage the feelings of residents and further assure Lagosians of its readiness to decisively deal with any person or group of persons who attempts to breach the public peace.”
