Makarfi's Victory Tonic To Restrategise Towards 2019 Presidential Election -Ukah

Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Patrick Ukah, has said that the Supreme Court recognition of the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) recently is the tonic the party needs to restrategise towards winning the 2019 presidential election.

While congratulating all party members on the victory, Mr. Ukah stated that what happened in the party was not entirely out of place as it is a manifestation of the beauty of democracy.

The Commissioner expressed optimism that the party is poised to reposition itself aimed at reclaiming the mandate it lost to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2015 presidential election, now that all legal matters affecting the party have been resolved.

He noted that even within immediate families there are disagreements which are settled one way or the other and at the end, an amicable resolution is found and the bond in the family becomes stronger.

Mr. Ukah appealed to all members who left the party for whatsoever reasons to return as the PDP is large enough to accommodate everybody.

Advertisers have been called upon to ensure a close monitoring and supervision to restrict advertisement of products that are injurious to humans especially children and teenagers.

The call was made by the Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa  during the 32nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Outdoor Advertising Association of Nigeria (OAAN) in Asaba today.

Governor Okowa, who was represented by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Barr. Mrs. Mary Iyasere, stated that such products like alcohol, and tobacco should be restricted within a set radius of schools, parks and residential areas.

Governor Okowa also stated that it was very important to avoid indiscriminate placement of billboards to deface the environment, saying that members should always take extra care of the beauty and aesthetics of the environment and urged the association to consider these during their meeting.

The Governor, who noted that there are numerous challenges facing outdoor advertisement, urged the members to come up with suggestions for solutions to these difficulties that face the practice of the profession.

The Commissioner for Information, Mr. Patrick Ukah, in his address, stated that Delta State was ready to regulate all outdoor advertisement in the state hence the establishment of Delta Signage and Advertisement Agency (DESAA).

N1.650bn released to DESOPADEC - DTSG

The attention of the Delta State government has been drawn to another orchestrated rumour making the rounds that the state government released the sum of N500 million to the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) to pay contractors as well as run its affairs .

The mischievous rumour, again, has exposed the writers as ignorant, and wicked persons whose stock in trade is to cause unnecessary disaffection aimed at destroying the peaceful atmosphere existing in the state.

A statement issued by the Media Assistant to the state Commissioner for Information, Mr. Sam Ijeh, in Asaba on Monday, July 31, 2017, noted that in the month of July, 2017, the sum of one billion, six hundred and fifty million Naira was released to DESOPADEC.

The statement therefore urged Deltans not to be distracted but continue to support the government of Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa who is irrevocably committed to the overall development of the state.
