PDP:Buhari should Transmit Letter to National Assembly on Private Visit to London.

By editor - 8 mins ago

No proper hand over to vice president

Chidimma A Ihenacho in Abuja

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Uche Secondus, yesterday in Abuja declared that President Muhammadu Buhari’s ongoing 10-day private visit to London, United Kingdom is an illegal and unconstitutional trip.
Speaking during a media briefing on the state of the nation, Secondus, who described Buhari’s trip as “voyage unknown”, said it was condemnable that the President travelled to the United Kingdom without notifying the National Assembly and also did not hand over power to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
The PDP Chairman also lamented the escalation of bloodletting occasioned by the barrage of criminalities across the country, saying these developments have raised serious concerns on the issue of leadership and whether there is a government in place.”
Secondus noted that “while the Presidency continues to argue that there exists government in the country today, what obtains in reality is different.”
He noted that rather than give teeth to governance and address biting national issues of concern like the insecurity, “the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government exerts all its energies and resources planning nefariously how to undermine democratic institutions.”
According to Secondus, the security situation had been such that prominent Nigerian clerics have been raising serious concerns on the issue of leadership, even questioning whether there is a Commander-in-Chief in this country.
He stated: “I have called you this day to speak on some burning issues that relate to our dear country. The apparent incompetence of the ruling APC in the handling of affairs of governance has continued to take a huge toll on the nation.
“The level of bloodletting occasioned by the barrage of criminalities across the country can only be happening in a country without government. Things got even worse as the remaining goodwill of the people on this government vanished after it arm-twisted the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), into tampering with the will of the people in the February 23 Presidential and National Assembly Elections.
“There is no evidence of the presence of government in this country as crimes of all kinds are committed all over the country and Nigerians have never lived in such great fear and trembling for their lives.
“From Kaduna to Zamfara, Benue to Taraba, Plateau, Lagos to Enugu, bloodletting is continuing unabated, even the President’s home state of Katsina has lost about eight local government areas to bandits, much less the North East.

“Just last week, a female foreign humanitarian worker, Faye Mooney, a Briton was brutally shot dead in Kajuru, Kaduna state. The situation has deteriorated to the extent that this country can no longer protect the lives of international aid workers who are here to help us clear our mess.”
Secondus further noted that the continuous bloodletting in Kaduna state should be blamed on the type of provocative leadership existing in that state and indirectly encouraged by the federal government.
He stressed that the ‘body bag’ governor in the state does not seem to know how to engender peace among the people, pointing out that his actions and utterances facilitate instead of ameliorating the ill feelings among the people.
The PDP national chair further said that after several attempts by the APC to hijack the legislature failed, it turned to the Judiciary ridiculing the revered third arm of the government to the point of removing their confidence.
According to him, “The executive-backed humiliation of the head of the Judiciary, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, is a well-designed strategy by the APC administration to intimidate and coerce judicial officers particularly the Judges and Justices to fall in line and endorse all their undemocratic behaviours that are bound to come to the judiciary for adjudication.”
Secondus advised members of the Judiciary particularly those handling election matters and who are all Nigerians and are living in Nigeria that the country and rule of law should guide all their actions.
Furthermore, he  them urged them to know that providence has placed on their laps the opportunity to make positive history and enshrine justice and fair play in the society knowing as a fact that no nation grows on injustice and injustice breed crisis.
To this end, Secondus enjoined Nigerian leaders through the media to speak up on the situation in the country and not wait until the nation finally grounds to halt before they voice out.
While appreciating the good work by the media, Secondus urged them to do more in condemning the deliberate bastardisation of critical institutions of democracy and clear destruction of separation of power among the three arms of government.

IHTEF 4th International Hospitability, Tourism & Eco-sustainability Forum

OLUGBENGA SUNDAY,
CEO, Tojum Hospitality Group
What we do, personally we , recruit and train people at the same time rebrand hotels.
The truth of the matter is that the Industrial is growing already that just the truth. What we need to do is to start doing right from the building, and if you want to build a hotel engage a consultant and in the area of serving let improve on it. We need to implement high government policy that need to encourage the industry mostly in the issue of light, if the light is regular we will do more ,fix light that is the area am going . Because the cost is too high & discourages the investor from outside the countries .
Recently will start granting interviews to journalist like this, I could remember last year I was in a tourism that paid, addressing the issues of tax and power. That what we do at the rebrand, keeping talking at the social media and every platform we have opportunity , we talked about challenges. Like today now we emphasis on Government policy and challenges in the industry and plead unto them to wake up. Yes now, digital is everywhere, we have smart phones, hand draw phones, internet, so Nigeria should be 24th Century of our digital marketing innovation. The truth of the matter is that we need willingness, conscious people to start taking advantages in the fact that we can reach other people from other countries, and the whole world right there.
Every hotel should take the advantage of digital marketing, because it is cheap that you can use to reach as many as possible you want on digital market.
As I said earlier, every hotel should create a section for digital marketing. And the manager should be aside, he can only supervise. Let the professional be allowed to handle that section and at most it will go along way to the industries.
The government should embrace ICT and our school systems also improve ICT system training, so that the youth will be prepared before coming to the field. In the matter of fact we have some hotels owners and managers that they don’t even have Instagram page not to talk of  Facebook  e.t.c. we need more orientation and government should put more effort in the case like this, investing on ITC  in the educational system.

IHTEF 4th International Hospitability, Tourism & Eco-sustainability Forum

THE GENERAL MANAGER OF SOPROM AND SUITES ONITSHA
The general manager of so prom hotel, Onitsha, who came on behalf of the CEO of Soprom Hotel in places named Lady Edna Uzoamaka Okafor, who receive award for hospitality woman of the year from the international Hospitality, Tourism and Eco-sustainability forum.
The general manager of Soprom Hotel speaking to the press men that this ward been given to the CEO is an award for excellence. In Nigeria for you to have a lady, a woman of integrate to make down an investment in a place where you can even say thief and robbers is a very good risk I must say congratulation to her today for such treat.
This ward is beyond doubt for a example in Nigeria when talking of hospitality is mainly done by men but for us to see a lady, woman of source to do such. In place where you can even talk about the return of investment is a plus. His expectation after this award is been given a greater high, this award will take the hotel far, showcase that every areas where the hotel is not doing well they will do best because people will say for such award to happen, from the alternative women for the years 2019. This shows that the organizer look deeply and examine her. And the next time something like this will come up the hotel will do better than this.
The take home message is all about given more to the society. The women we are talking about today is a philanthropy. A mother and she is a woman that look into someone eye and know your feeling. Is not all about me, its about given to the society and this is what we are seeing today. At least when we are talking about hospitality today in Anambra, mostly in Onitsha now. This women has actually taken a lot of problems out from the government. Now people are busy, people now know what to do, and now we have place were we can go and work.
She has reduce the risk, a lot of problem that could have earn battle Onitsha. Where the hotel is an eye blood area where we Kinsley Federal housing we you talk about the might, when you talk about whose that matters that were the hotel is. This award been dedicate to all those that thought this cannot happen and to all those that think Onitsha cannot show good surprise, but Onitsha has show good surprise today. The surprise were are talking about is changing peoples participation. That tourism and hospitality can really happen in the state.

"Tourism supposed to have its own Ministry "- Spohia Khan

Sophia Khan
Publisher of Travel Appeal Magazine, Sophia Khan made  this remark during interview chat at the 4th International Hospitality, Tourism & Eco- sustainability Forum(IHTEF AFRICA) held on 16th April, 2019 in Abuja, she said that Federal government supposed to give Tourism sector a separate Ministry.

" The government needs to allocate separate ministry for tourism sector ,to move the tourim forward

She went further to add that  until the government start tourism as the new oil in the country we are no were, because the government don’t known and they don’t want to known. The government's of the day are not interested in tourism because they don’t have knowledge of the benefit in tourism.

The conference is fine and good and is what we need ,especially in the area of hospitality and tourism .
In times of tourism in Nigeria we have not started because the government of the day is not interested in tourism. And for that the tourism is been handle by the private sectors. So we are doing our best  but, we need government policy. Because without the government we can’t go far, we need policy regulation, and all that the government supports , and put regulation in place for up-coming Private sectors and make the environment conductive so the private sectors will drive it. A lot of people pulled out from the industry's , because they got stocks,  those once that are in  the industry are just there for passion . Not for anything, but it frustrates, because they have passion they keep on pushing. Nigerian we are the lest in the countries, because of natural tourism. Well I think most of our tourism are natural, we hardly have man-made.
Sophia Khan
Publisher, Travel Appeal Magazine
And we have not even managed our natural tourism talk more of creating another. If there is no conductive  environments in the industry the youth will not come. The percentage of  youth in the industry are 80,  several of them are there because there is no job, not because they have passion or seeing a lot of money been made out of it, or encouragements. But if you want the youth, you have to encourage them ,make the industrial attractive , then you make it less frustrating. That one of the challenge's that makes people not to come in. if you see some of the youth that are in the industry, they are  awaiting for a good job, until they get the bank job NNPC , but for now let me just be here, that is the attitude's you get from the youth.

Jonathan advice Nigerian's Not to be Discouraged by Violence

By editor - 1 min ago

Former President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has urged Nigerians not to give up on the nation in the face of unabating violence and misery, stressing that Nigeria has all it takes to overcome its challenges.

The Ex-President who stated this in his Easter goodwill message also enjoined Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of love, unity, sacrifice and hardwork as necessary instruments for the fixing of what has gone wrong in our society.

He said: “Through our faith and collective actions, we will overcome the tempests of violence, misery and insecurity that threaten our nation.”

“Easter is a time Christians celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ who offered Himself as a sacrifice for the remission of the sins of the world. Christ’s resurrection as a testimony of the new covenant is the justification for Christians’ commemoration of the triumph of life over death, freedom over bondage and hope over despair, at this time.

“I, therefore, urge us not to give up on our ourselves and our nation no matter the challenges that confront us today. At all times we must remain resolute on our love for God and our nation and work towards building a country that we can all be proud of.

“Through our faith and collective actions, we will overcome the tempests of violence, misery and insecurity that threaten our nation. We are more than conquerors and the future of our nation is bright, if we work as one.

“May God fill our homes with peace, love and joy even as we enjoy the abundance of Grace that Easter brings. Happy Easter!

There is no way a Nation can plan without the population

Dr Ahaji Bello

Director National population commission.
Appreciate the media for identifying with the occasions, first next to senses the most important function of the commission is civil and vital registration, is collecting data of birth and death ,and to extending marriages and divorces. We have just review on how far have we cover as a nation. Regard this important function, far as the statistics, the cover age is not as it suppose to be ,we aught to cover about 100% ideally.
By the time we are able to cover the birth registration we can use it to validate and to known how many children has been given birth and the birth certificate ,funding is the challenges for now and we need to be able to reach the nulece and craning of the country.
For instance you want to mobilize to local government that have two centres and five hundred thousand population, the centres or  office will not be enough to cover efficiency, we need enough personnel, and the personnel need to be motivated and provided with the necessary working, I have been discussing with my commissioner who is the chairman of the vital and statistics on how we can increase the coverage, but it has to be supported and  adequately funded in order to actualize the desired result.
We need the government support to enable us to discharge our duties effectively.

The deputy senate president ,Ike Ekweremadu : 9th Assembly will shun politics in tackling national issues.

07:13AM

April 13, 2019

Chidimma Ihenacho, Abuja

Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, says the ninth National Assembly will rise above political, religious and ethnic divide to address the myriads of challenges facing the Nigerian people.

According to a statement by his media aide, Uche Anichukwu, on Friday, Ekweremadu spoke on Thursday night during a dinner to mark the end of the orientation programme organised for the elected federal lawmakers in Abuja.

While describing the National Assembly as a microcosm of Nigeria, he observed that bringing together the members-elect from across the country had helped them to share basic legislative knowledge.

He also said the programme had helped them to familiarise with one another and better appreciate the peculiar challenges faced by various parts of the country.

He said, “After elections comes the onerous business of governance and I am greatly encouraged by the enthusiasm and determination of senators and members-elect to rise above narrow politics.

“It gladdens the heart that members-elect are aware that once sworn in as senators and members of the House of Representatives of the Federal Republic, we are bound by our oath of office.

“We will always act in the overall interest of the sovereignty, integrity, solidarity, well-being and prosperity of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“We are bound by these instruments to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
